How to Earn Points in a Move More Challenge

This article explains how Move More Challenge points are calculated.

Move Points

In the Move More Challenge, users compete in an activity challenge where points are earned based on the number of steps you take with your steps tracker or the number of calories your Apple Watch Move ring reports that you've burned.

Please note: Challenges can only read the data from one movement source, so if you switch from one to the other during the challenge, you may notice a change in activity points.

iOS

There are two options for tracking your activity on iOS devices:

1. Active Calories from Apple Watch

Earn 12 points for each time you close your Move ring based on the active calorie Move goal that the challenge has set for you, up to a maximum of 36 points daily.

Note: your Move goal in Challenges is not always the same as the Move goal you have set on your watch. The Challenges Move goal defaults to be 2x your weight. For example, if your weight is 150 lbs, your move goal in the challenge is 300. You'll earn 12 points for every 300 calories you burn on your watch (up to 900 calories in this case). Click here to learn how to check your goals.

2. Steps from Fitbit or Apple Health

Earn 1 point for every 400 steps, up to a maximum of 36 points daily (14,400 steps).

When participating in a Move More challenge on an iOS device and using Steps as your tracking source, the challenge will review both your iOS Health steps and Fitbit steps and will default to whichever value is higher so that you get the highest score possible.
